Asparagus Cultivation

Asparagus Season

Asparagus cultivation in Antequera has become one of the most stable and profitable crops, with plantations and production increasing year after year.

Forecasts for the next two years, based on the plantations established this year and those planned for the next, indicate that we will surpass one million kilos during this period. Currently, 82% of our production is sold in France and Germany.

TONS

Of the three crops we currently work with, asparagus is the one that generates the most labor demand. It covers an area of 135-145 hectares, requiring 1 worker per hectare for care and harvesting. Each hectare of asparagus generates 50 workdays in the handling and packaging center, where 100% of this process takes place in our cooperative’s facilities.

Leading Brand in European Retail Points

Our asparagus is recognized as a leading brand in the European markets where we are present (France, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, etc.).

Handling and Packaging

We have a 1,500 m² packaging plant, surrounded by an asphalt-paved area (2,000 m²) designated for worker parking, and another concrete-paved area (2,000 m²) for loading and unloading goods.

Additionally, there is a fenced area outside, where three compressor units for the refrigeration systems are located, alongside a fire protection system with two pumping units (one electric and one diesel).

All these resources, combined with the high quality asparagus produced in the Vega region, ensure that our members obtain the best possible price for their products.
